Mitchell Funeral Home is committed to Huntsville Families

Few Muskoka businesses are as entrenched in the community as Mitchell Funeral Home. Ould Funeral Home was first established in the early 1900s, with Larry Mitchell’s family taking over in the 1930s. Larry is proud of this tradition and the fact that theirs is the only funeral home in Muskoka, from Sundridge down to Orillia, that is still family-owned and operated. “I think that’s what makes us so unique,” Larry explains. “You’re dealing directly with our family when you come to us and that creates a special kind of familiarity at a pivotal time.”
Supporting families through loss creates an immediate and often lasting intimacy with a funeral director. Over the years, the Mitchell family –Larry together with his wife Colleen and son Bill-have connected with countless local families through the generations, which is the continuation of a tradition that goes back decades. “Some local families are connected with us as far back as great and great-great grandparents.”

Cremation services

Published: Wednesday, May 31, 2017
Did you know that in our area cremation has become very common. Cremation is simply an alternative form of disposition rather then burial. Cremation does not reflect on the service that is held to remember the life lived or to provide support and comfort to those who grief.
Alternatively if a cremation without memorialization is desired, we at the Mitchell Funeral Home can assist you with this choice. But, we will still provide to you our knowledge and support. We work hard for you and strive to keep our fees affordable as well as competitive.
A newer service across Ontario are cremation services, they advertise simple and affordable services, but simply they are doing what funeral homes have always done, but are limited to only dealing with dispositions.
As a funeral home owner, I just suggest, talk to your local funeral home first. Check out the level of service before and after the disposition as well as related fees. We are here to serve you 24/7.

We have just introduced a new line of biodegradable urns. The urns are designed to slowly breakdown in the soil without leaving a footprint on the environment. We also have a new urn designed to dissolve in minutes for a water scattering as well as an urn for the purpose of scattering ashes. All are very reasonable price and available for viewing. One more step we've made in greening our business.
